Good nutrition is essential for optimum health for both people and animals. What we eat reflects how we feel. If we eat healthily, all the nutrients from our food can be used to maximum effect. Our well-being is increased and we tend to look and feel fabulous.
A lot
of owners think they are doing their animals a favour by
overfeeding them with human food – this is now one of the main
causes of cancer in dogs, apart from vaccines. Also there
are masses of dry food which advertise great health but this is
not necessarily the case. Dry food can be full of
additives and food substances that your dog may be allergic to,
like corn or wheat, which they do not need. If you want
to feed your dog dried food I would suggest a brand such as
Burns or James Welbelove – they are organic.
My advice is to either dowse, muscle test or have an animal communication session to ascertain what is the best eating plan for your dogs.
They need protein, vegetables and fruits with good fats and some carbohydrates. I feed my dogs on raw mince or chicken with lots of vegetables, some nuts and seeds and if I can get them to eat it – fruit!!
Please be careful about what goes into your wet dog food as some manufacturers use all sorts of things that you wouldn’t want your dog to eat – dead dogs, horses and other things that I can’t even think about!
My dogs are also on Omega 3 oil and a vitamin and mineral supplement. Stan is on glucosamine for bones – so I ensure that my dogs get all the supplements they need. Once again I do this by either dowsing or during an animal communication session.
Remember that your dog also needs good exercise - a lot of behavioural problems are caused because of the lack of/not long enough exercise. I like my dogs to run free for an hour a day so they can sniff the air, chase rabbits and generally be dogs! This means that their muscles and heart are being well exercised and although you might walk 5 miles (which is good for you as well!) they are most probably running 10!
Remember, like humans, it is unlikely that your animal is getting all the nutrition that it needs from its food so find out what else it needs………..
Neem is an Indian herb which makes a brilliant treat for dogs – and believe me they love it! Neem is so beneficial as it is antiviral, antibacterial and anti everything! I even have Hardy on neem for his heart – it is brilliant for heart murmurs and heart failure. Find out more information at www.neemgenie.co.uk - they are so helpful. They also sell sprays to deter fleas and ticks and I use neem mouthwash as it has no alcohol in it.
Chocolate
Dried
fruit
Macadamia
nuts
Xylitol - this is a sugar free sweetener found in mints so please do not feed them to your dogs - take to the vet immediately
When Milie was diagnosed with cancer we were devastated. The lumps in her throat had appeared suddenly while I had been away on holiday and it was aggressive. I am not particularly fond of hospital practises but I did realise that without chemotherapy, Milie’s life would be cut short.
So I asked her what she wanted to do, the alternatives being healing and/or chemotherapy. Milie told me that she chose both and that she would have to have chemo and that she would live for another 18 months – in fact she lived another 20 months and most of that time in good health, having fun and running on the beach.
There is a tremendous amount of information on the internet for dog cancer but I have listed some of the information and websites that I had found very useful:
This
website offers chemotherapy support as well as herbal remedies
for particular types of cancer.
